Irish Tenor Ronan Tynan received the Johns Hopkins University President’s Medal on June 8 in Baltimore, Maryland. Tynan said, "It’s a great honor. I am deeply appreciative to be included among the recipients of this award."
The President’s Medal of the Johns Hopkins University is a prestigious honor extended by the University to individuals who have achieved unusual distinction. It has been awarded to heads of state, members of the United States Congress, a Supreme Court Justice, diplomats, literary figures, academics, corporate chief executives, and other distinguished individuals. First bestowed in l978, the medal is awarded at the discretion of the University’s President, frequently in conjunction with a special occasion, such as an anniversary celebration or named lectureship. Tynan will be presenting a motivational speech to the gathered assembly.
Tynan’s recently released self-titled CD, RONAN, continues strong on the U.S. classical crossover and world music charts, and he will be in Ireland in May for a series of concerts, many of which are nearly sold out.
